The River & Ranges
The Rangitikei River winds it's way alongside the Ruahine Ranges in the north, meandering down to the sea south of Bulls. Along the way it flows over steep rapids, through narrow gorges, past tall cliffs and across wide river flats.

Boulders in the Bush
Like giant eggs left in the undergrowth, these round boulders are nestled amongst native bush along the Rangitikei River.

Historic Homesteads
Many magnificent old houses are to be found in and around Marton, at the southern end of the Rangitikei district. You can enjoy their beauty and grandeur with a guided tour.

Fields of Gold
The fertile flats in the south are ideal for cropping. Farming and fun have been combined with great success with a maze in the maize near Marton.

Taihape's Tin Gumboot
Taihape is world famous as the place to throw gumboots. This corrugated iron sculpture of a huge gumboot as it hits the ground is situated beside the gumboot throwing lane.

Rangitikei Hill Country
This hill country scene is typical for the northern part of the Rangitikei District. Sheep, cattle and deer farming is common here. The native and exotic trees create an ever-changing picture throughout the year, with golden Kowhai flowers in spring and fiery falling leaves in autumn.

Rafting on the River
Rafting is a great way to experience the Rangitikei River. Raft trips are available to suit every taste, from the excitement of going over grade 5 rapids for the adrenalin junky to a gentle drift on the middle and lower river for the less adventurous explorer.

On the Rocks
The water of the Rangitikei and it's tributaries have sculpted the rocks into many inetersting forms, carving out the stunning white cliffs and exposing marine fossils.
