New Zealand North Island Rangitikei River Region travelling holiday spots

Rangitikei - New Zealand's best kept secret on the North Island

The Rangitikei District is located in the River Region at the heart of the North Island of New Zealand, where State Highway 1 provides a passage through the middle of the district. Despite the accessible location, the wonders of the Rangitikei are still relatively unspoilt. Many of its best attractions are just a little off the main track.

The Rangitikei River has created a spectacular landscape with towering white cliffs and deep gorges. Small towns throughout the district provide a break from travelling or great holiday spots in a rural setting. Friendly business operators provide top service and amazing attractions to the visitor. You can view some of these in the photo gallery, and even send an e-card to a friend.

Our diverse range of tourism operators have come together as Rangitikei Tourism Inc. to promote the Rangitikei District. Here is our latest newsletter so you can see who we are and what we have been doing to promote the district recently ...

A lonely farm shed in the southern Rangitikei district near Marton. The towering papa cliffs are typical along the rivers edge.

The hill country in the northern Rangitikei district is farmed with sheep, cattle and deer. Amongst the hills are great rivers and streams for sport and recreation
